In November 2004, Rahr & Sons Brewing LP, commenced brewing in its current location just south of downtown Fort Worth. Its aspirations were lofty – to create award winning beers and ales based on traditional German and English recipes.

Initial production was small – in step with the sleepy area of Fort Worth where the brewery stands. Soon however, word of Rahr's high quality brews spread and a strong local following developed in Fort Worth.

It wasn't long before Rahr beers started winning awards. Rahr has won numerous "Best in Class" awards in the annual United States Beer Tasting Championships. In 2008, Rahr's Bucking Bock, a traditional German Maibock , won a Bronze Medal at the bi annual World Beer Cup, the Olympics of beer.

Rahr's initial brewing capacity in 2004 was 1,800 barrels per year. Since then, Rahr has undergone two production expansions. In 2008 the brewery completed its last expansion to 5,000 barrel per year capacity. Most of Rahr's production is sold in the North Texas area (Dallas – Fort Worth - Denton). We also have limited distribution in the Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.

Saturday Tour & Tasting - Each Saturday, our sleepy part of town comes alive at 1:00 pm when Rahr opens its big bay doors to the public for our weekly tour and tasting. Over 600 people visit the brewery on Saturdays to enjoy live music, BBQ and excellent Rahr beers. So if you are in North Texas on a Saturday put the Rahr Tour and Tasting on your must do list!

Sustainable Brewing and Marketing - We apologize if you can't get Rahr beers in your part of the world. We only brew so much and our local North Texas market is our first priority. We are also working hard to reduce the brewery's carbon footprint. Rahr's total electricity use is from renewable sources. In addition we are taking steps to reduce water consumption and to recycle more materials used at the brewery. As we say at Rahr, "Reduce Your Carbon Footprint...Drink Local Beer!"

So if you find yourself in North Texas enjoy the beer that North Texans have come to know as their award winning local beer!
