Rahr Saturday Tour and Tasting -- New Admission Policy
Starting Saturday August 16, 2008 Rahr will charge a $5 glass/admission charge for its Saturday Tour and Tasting event, held each Saturday.
Since the brewery opened in 2004 the weekly Tour and Tasting has been a free promotional event. Unfortunately, brewery costs increased dramatically in 2007. Grains have increased by 33%, specialty malts have increased by 100% and the majority of hops we use have increased by 500%. In addition, glass and packaging costs have increased by 10 - 35% respectively.
We are reluctant to impose this charge on our brewery visitors, but we feel we have little choice. To soften the impact and to provide visitors with something more than just a good time to take away, the $5 glass/admission charge will get each visitor a standard 16 oz. Rahr pint glass to use at the tasting and to take home after.
For repeat visitors who wish to bring and use their own Rahr glass (previous purchased at Rahr), the admission charge will also be $5. However, those visitors will have an option of receiving an additional glass to take home, or have the brewery donate half thier admission fee ($2.50) to Rahr's charity of the month.
Rahr is contacting several local charities in Tarrant and Dallas counties to be recipients of these funds.
We thank our visitors for their understanding. Rahr will continue to strive to make Saturday afternoon at the brewery as much fun as always. Good beer, good music, good food and really great people make for a great time. Thanks again -- we hope to see you at the brewery.
