Beer Bread
Ingredients:
3 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 ½ teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons turbinado sugar
2 (12-ounce) bottles of Rahr & Sons Blonde Lager.
- Preheat oven to 375*F (190*C). Lightly grease 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan with vegetable shortening.
- Set aside one bottle of Rahr & Sons Blonde Lager. Combine remaining ingredients, mixing well with hands.
- Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour. Loaf should make a hollow sound when tapped.
- After placing bread in the oven, open the remaining bottle of Rahr & Sons Blonde Lager and enjoy while waiting for the bread to bake!
Makes 1 loaf.
Variation ideas:
- Add 1/2 cup freshly chopped chives, basil or green chiles to dough.
- Add 1 cup grated Red Leicester or sharp cheddar cheese to dough.
- Use muffin tins to make individual servings. The crust is the best part of this bread. Decrease cooking time according to your oven’s temperament.
- Add ¼ cup orange marmalade and 1 teaspoon freeze-dried chives to dough for a nifty holiday snack loaf. Serve toasted with a slice of Edam cheese for an easy and impressive breakfast.
Ugly Pug Chicken
Ingredients:
- 1 whole fryer
- 1 bottle Rahr Ugly Pug Beer
- 2 tbsp chopped garlic
- 1 tbsp diced onions
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp beef bullion
- 2 tsp celery salt
- 2 tsp oregano
- 2 tsp lemon pepper salt & pepper to taste (we like using cracked pepper)
Method:
Place fryer in crock pot
pour in 1 bottle Rahr Ugly Pug Beer
Sprinkle on all seasons EXCEPT beef bullion.
Set on low heat for 8 - 9 hours.
During last hour of cooking, stir beef bullion into broth (DON'T sprinkle it on the chicken!)
Serving Suggestion:
Serve over Noodles or rice with a tossed salad and the Rahr Beer of your choice!
Rahr Red Roast
Ingredients:
- 1 Bottle Rahr Red
- 1 Medium Sized Pork Roast
- 1/2 a white onion chopped
- 3 Tbsps Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Cubes beef bullion
- 1 Tbsp garlic (we used the bottled kind)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Pinch of Cajun Spice (We used Tony Chachere's)
- Pinch of oregano
Method:
Place pork roast in crock pot
Pour in Rahr Red Beer in crockpot, pouring over the pork roast
Season pork roast to taste with salt, pepper & cajun spice, adding the pinch or oregano on top too,
add the 3 tbsps Worcestershire sauce to beer mix
Place the 2 cubes beef bullion in beer mix
Add the chopped onion and garlic to mix
Set crock pot to low heat. (you will need to let it cook on low for 8 hours)
Serving Suggestion:
Serve with hot crusty french bread and honey butter, with cold Rahr Beer of your choice.
Honey Butter
In small dish mix whipped spread (we prefer Shedd's Spread) and mix in honey to taste.
Pug Ugly Rice
Greetings from the Beer Bytch kitchen!
A Savory rice that compliments ANY dish!
Ingredients:
2 Cups Minute White Rice
1 Cube Beef Bullion
1 Tbsps Olive Oil (you can use butter too)
1 Bottle Ugly Pug Beer
1 Cup Water
Method:
Combine Beer, Water, Olive Oil and Beef Bullion Cube in a Medium Pan
Heat to a boil
Add in rice. Stir frequently and lower temperature to medium.
